Oklahoman Who Converted Passion into Success

Dracula character photo from www.fanpop.com
A "kid," raised on a dairy farm in Atoka, Oklahoma, loved monster movies. He asked to have his mother's old makeup, although his parents were a bit skeptical. At 15, he made himself up as a character from Planet of the Apes to help a local theater promote that movie. In 1993, he won an Oscar for his makeup special effects in Bram Stokers' Dracula. Watch the video below for interviews and glimpses into Mungle's world, his studio, coworkers, and special effects.

Discuss with your mentee(s) being different, passion, perseverance, and many other qualities that must have been necessary to propel Matthem Mungle where he is today.
